Police were conducting a speed check on the 40 mph section of Seven Mile Lane last Thursday November 16 based in the entrance to the packhouse. I drove slowly !! Agree with all that has been said about current signage being in the wrong place and being far too small.
I have to agree with everything Mike and Sue has said. Lorry drivers in particular would prefer earlier notice of limit coming from Moody Mare. Signage just after bend in road requires hard braking, bad for the brake pads. School should have illuminated warning also speed indicator signs. Start of limit at Alders needs. Enlargement. Bikers seem to see slower car/Lorry traffic as a challenge to increase rather than decrease speed. Where are the police? I for one have never seen them posted at the Fruit Farm. Was that not one of the terms of agreement/ approval for the reduced limit?
I agree with comments from Mike and Sue. Lorry drivers do my like sudden approach to 40mph boundary. It causes extensive wear on brakes. Better, bigger signage needed. In the many hundreds of journeys made on this road at different times of day I have never seen a police car posted at the entrance to the strawberry fields.
Bikers not only ignore the limit but appear to relish going even faster. Is there a club? (Ask the police)
Crossroads need coloured road surfaces of better still a chicane ( same as Offham). Illuminated school signage would not go amiss.
Seven Mile Lane: comments
– Alders signage needs greater emphasis, as does Street crossroad;
– bikers speeds as fast as ever;
– why no red surfaces as seen elsewhere?
– speed limitations should start/end at grain store;
– overall speeds seem reduced, impression only

2) More emphasis needed at crossroads;
3) Overall speed seems to have reduced;
